Cheryl Soderstrom is the Americas Cybersecurity Chief Technologist for Hewlett Packard Enterprise Services. In this capacity she is focused on bringing the larger HPE cybersecurity point of view to industry leaders and key clients, leveraging HP’s deep insights gained from securing client operations across the globe, our Managed Security Services leadership, and our market-best security research teams studying and correlating the threat landscape and vulnerabilities in cyberspace. She represents HPE in speaking engagements on cybersecurity in commercial and public sector forums.
Previously, Ms. Soderstrom was the director of cybersecurity practice operations for HPES US Public Sector. She created the practice development approach and led the establishment of the USPS cybersecurity practice—unifying strategy, capabilities, growth plans, workforce management and investments across the public sector.
To provide a common understanding of cybersecurity that incorporates both business and technical views, Ms. Soderstrom championed the development of a comprehensive cybersecurity taxonomy. Providing a comprehensive understanding of the cybersecurity challenge in common language, Ms. Soderstrom used this taxonomy to baseline the company’s portfolio, public sector book of business and go-forward strategy, and has shared it with international colleagues and key public sector clients. She has represented public sector and commercial cybersecurity in ongoing HPE corporate initiatives, portfolio development, investment planning and market messaging.
During her career, Ms. Soderstrom has worked in multiple capacities, including account management, corporate staff leadership positions, industry consulting and cybersecurity. She brings expertise in applying business strategy and consulting services to the cybersecurity domain for industry and government clients, with complementary expertise in strategy and business model development, enterprise performance management, business webs and organizational development. Ms. Soderstrom also has significant experience leading information technology planning and development, enterprise business operations, and global implementations.
