Iván Sánchez Medina, Country Manager for Colombia - Ufinet
Ivan Sanchez Medina is Engineer in Electronics and Telecommunications, has a Master of Telematics, University of Cauca and is a doctoral candidate in Hispanic Studies from the University of Kentucky.
He has over 20 years’ experience in management, operation, regulation, management and negotiation of communication networks, including personnel management and technical and logistical resources.
Currently, he serves as Director General of Ufinet Colombia, company that provides services in the wholesale telecommunications market.
He was Commissioner at Commission for Communications Regulation (CRC), of Colombia, and member of its board of directors, where he headed the proper development of all regulatory projects whose main focus was the technical component. He also provided advice on the draft policy definition for Information Technology and Communication (ICT), undertaken by the Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications in Colombia.
In the CRC, he led relationships to ICT (operators, associations, technology providers and user associations) in Colombia industry in order to socialize regulatory proposals and receive feedback regarding the Commission initiatives. He was also responsible for monitoring international technological and regulatory trends in order to use them as potential models for application in the Colombian market.
In his career, he has served as Senior Manager Sales Services and Managed Services Senior Manager of Lucent Technologies; and as Provisioning Network Director, and Network Operations Center Director of ETB (ETB), companies where he was responsible for the operation of projects in business lines and optimal operating models as well as management and operation telecommunications network. He has also been Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of Cauca.
